The First JSAS Mini Workshop
Spring 2021
Dear JSAS family, dear ALL, We recently launched the JSAS Mini-activities series where any of our members will introduce themselves to others members by presenting on their research interests and the research they are currently doing. In addition to keeping us in touch, these mini-series serve the purpose of getting to know more about each other’s work, and identify potential areas of collaboration and cooperation.
To get the ball rolling, it is with pleasure that we introduce JSAS president, Dr Vick Ssali as the first presenter of such activities.
Dr Ssali teaches English and the cultures of English Speaking Countries (英語圏) at Aichi Gakuin University in Central Japan. Vick is founding president of the Japan Society for Afrasian Studies (JSAS), and his research interests include governance and human security in Africa, as well as cross-cultural communication, CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), and cultural competence. His presentation will mainly focus on a cross-cultural approach to language teaching. He will also briefly introduce an ongoing project on the relevance of ethnic federalism to governance in multi-ethnic Uganda.
